Created in March 2013 with assistance from Center-invest Bank, the “Enterprise for All” portal provides free online training in the basics of entrepreneurship. More than 10,000 people have now registered on the portal, and 2,600 people have already finished the training course and received a certificate of completion.
On 7 April 2015, at a meeting in the Kremlin presided over by President Vladimir Putin, the State Council for SME Development stressed that an interest in business must be cultivated from childhood. It said that we need educational programmes that will make children realise they could become an entrepreneur, as well as a specific emphasis on supporting youth entrepreneurship.
The Enterprise for All portal provides open access to basic knowledge about entrepreneurship and the economy. Many different groups of participants have benefited from this training. For example:
University students have been able to include sections on “setting up a business” in their essays and dissertations. Trainees working for Center-invest Bank and the Financial Literacy Centre (Rostov-on-Don) have been applying their new knowledge in a practical setting. We are also seeing the practical application of this knowledge by people who are taking part in programmes run by the Endowment Fund for Education and Science in the Southern Federal District and/or Center-invest Bank’s loan programmes for entrepreneurs: Youth Business Russia (together with the International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF)), Start-Up, and Business Loans for Women.
The administrations of Rostov Region, Volgograd Region, Krasnodar Krai and Stavropol Krai have all agreed that successful completion of the Enterprise for All course (passing the online test) will count towards their employees’ continuing professional development (CPD). The course is also being used as a CPD activity by teaching staff from leading higher education institutions in southern Russia. Moreover, Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) has included the Enterprise for All portal in its global electronic library.
Analysis of the portal users shows that females dominate in all age groups, with the exception of the 25-34 age group. More than half of all users are under the age of 25.
Center-invest Bank regularly runs promotions and competitions on the portal. Prizes have included notebooks and tablets.
